Happy New Year to you guys!

2020 was an exceptionally hard year and I believe making it through till the end was a triumph in itself. The challenges faced were difficult, but I’m sure I’ve become a stronger person because of them.

Now I’m hoping to leave all of that behind and take on a new journey.

2020 was the year my career truly started, and it feels so insensitive to say that knowing so many people were hurting. It’s hard to find joy in the little triumphs when our world was (and still kinda is) falling apart right in front of us.

This year, I’m taking the time to celebrate the accomplishments I made last year while also remembering and expressing empathy to those who suffered because of the tragedies we’re facing. I’ll express gratitude while also remembering that a lot of people weren’t as fortunate as I.

But I’m excited for a new start.

This upcoming spring semester, I’ll be serving as the intern for CNN Newsource Entertainment – freaking crazy, I know– while also spearheading a team of writers as the news editor for my university’s newspaper, The Tropolitan, and also continuing my job as the student writer for the school’s blog and magazine.

Obviously I’m nervous to take on these new tasks as I finish up my junior year of college, but I’m excited to learn, grow, and be tested.

I hope you all take the lessons learned in 2020 and implement them into your life. In this new year, I hope we can all have a little bit of hope and show a little bit more understanding.
